DIET

The major reason as to why Pacman frogs should be housed alone is that a large portion of their diet in the wild is other frogs. Thankfully pet stores provide an easier, less expensive, and less cannibalistic means of keeping your Pacman well fed. Not to mention, feeding your Pacman other frogs can lead to the introduction of new diseases. In captivity, a diet that consists of soft-bodied invertebrates is the preferred method.

Juvenile frogs should be fed crickets, earth worms, silk worms, meal worms, and occasionally wax worms. Juveniles can be fed anywhere from 3-5 times a day and its recommended that their diet is a variety from the above mentioned. Since your Pacman Frog requires a decent dose of Calcium weekly, Gut-Loaded Crickets are the best choice. Supplemented calcium is recommended at each feeding for your young Pacman Frog.

Adult Pacman frogs have very large mouths and can be fed a diet similar to a Juvenile, with the introduction of small mice and feeder fish. Yet this should not make up a large portion of their diet, as they are both high in fat and are not native to their natural diet. Adult Pacmans can be fed small amounts once a week, or every other week in large quantities. Like Juvenile Pacman Frogs, adults should have their food coated in calcium once every two to four feedings.

Using plastic forceps is the best way to feed your Pacman Frog. Dangle the pre-killed mouse or fish in front of their large mouth to simulate natural movement. Don't be alarmed when, within a split second, your Pacman Frog lunge's for their dinner. This seemingly docile animal will make a quick and large leap when it sees its meal. It goes without saying, but protect your limbs if you don't want to be part of your frogs dinner.

As mentioned, small mice should be fed occasionally. Your local pet store will offer a variety of sizes of these rodents, its best to choose a size slightly smaller than half the size of your Pacman. It's highly recommended, especially as the size of your Pacman increases, to feed pre-killed mice to avoid any potentially harmful fights in your Pacmans habitat.
